Tariscope 4.5.x. Administrator's guide
Chapter 1 Installation
Advance preparation
Before the Tariscope installation, perform the following steps:
- Define the Microsoft SQL edition you will use for the Tariscope database. Whether it will be installed from the installation package on the same computer where Tariscope will be installed, or the SQL server will be installed on a separate server.
- Select an option to install the system. Several installation options are possible. All applications with MS SQL server on one server. Tariscope applications is installed on one server, and MS SQL server is installed on another server. You can install the applications of the Tariscope system (Tariscope and the Personal account of the subscriber) on different servers; there are other options.
- Select a server (computer), you will install the system. Server parameters for the Tariscope system depend on the selected installation option, telephone traffic, activity with the Tariscope system. When placing the Tariscope system and MS SQL server on one server, as well as low telephone traffic, we can recommend the minimum server parameters:
Processor: AMD FX-6300 or Intel Core i5-4430 or server AMD Opteron 3380 or Intel Xeon E3-1505L v5; RAM: 8 GB; Hard disk: 512 GB.
Operating Systems: Windows Server 2019/2016, Windows 10.
Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2017.
Additional dependencies
The Microsoft .Net Framework 4.6.1 is used to Tariscope. If the server, on which you install Tariscope, does not have this Framework but the computer has a connection to the Internet, Tariscope will automatically install this Framework. In case of the Framework is absent and the server does not have a connection to the Internet before you install Tariscope, download and install Microsoft .Net Framework 4.6.1.
The Tariscope installation package includes Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express that can be used to work with the Tariscope database. You can connect the Tariscope database to any other Microsoft SQL Server versions such as Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or above and use different editions.
Installation
The Tariscope system has a single installation package to setup the Tariscope server, Tariscope database, Web application of Tariscope (Tariscope Web Administrator (TWA)), Tariscope Personal Area and installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express edition.
The Tariscope server executes general functions of the system.
The Tariscope is a Web application that is used to setup Tariscope parameters and to work with calls, services, customers' accounts and other information. It is a main application of the Tariscope system with which the user works.
The Tariscope Personal Area is a Web application that is intended to subscribers to get information about their calls, account statuses, and others.
The installation is contained in the file of tariscope45.exe, which you can download from the Tariscope site.
Run the file. The Installer Language window appears as shown in Figure 1.1.

The installation window appears as shown in Figure 1.2.

The Components selection window offer you to select an installation option. There are three options:
- Tariscope with components and database, Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express. The choice of the option allows you to install all Tariscope applications, the Tariscope database and Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express edition. If you planning to use another edition of Microsoft SQL Server, do not select this option.
- Tariscope server and applications (without Microsoft SQL Server). The choice of the option allows you to install all Tariscope applications and the Tariscope database. Microsoft SQL Server does not install during the installation. The Tariscope database backup was made on the Microsoft SQL Server 2017, therefore, you should have this Microsoft SQL Server version or higher to attach the Tariscope database.
- Tariscope applications only or update. Select this option if you already installed the Tariscope server and Microsoft SQL Server. Also, you should select the option if you update the previously installed Tariscope applications.
Select the desired option and click Next. Whatever your choice, the next installation window is as shown in Figure 1.5.

The Tariscope components windows allows you to select applications that you want to install. There are following applications:
- Tariscope (Tariscope Web Administrator, TWA) is a Web application that provides the Tariscope configuration and work. You only need to install it on one server, through which users will work with Tariscope.
- Tariscope Personal Area is a Web application through which subscribers can have access to their calls information and accounts. You only need to install it on one server. If you choose this application, on the Tariscope components window the Installation path of Personal area box appears. By default, it contains the path to the default Microsoft IIS folder. You can change the path, but in the case, you should change IIS parameters also.
- Report Form Designer is a desktop application that allows to modify report forms included into Tariscope or create new report form.
Select the desired components and click Next. The next installation window appears as shown in Figure 1.6.

Figure 1.10
Specify the SQL server name or its IP address in the Server name or IP box. If Microsoft SQL Server that should be used for the Tariscope database is on another server, type IP address of the server.
If the SQL server instance name is not default one (MSSQLSERVER), you should specify its name in the SQL server name (optional) box. For example, the SQL Server is on the server with IP address of 10.2.10.25 and the SQL Server name is MySQLServer. In this case, you should type: MySQLServer. If you are installing the SQL Server from the Tariscope installation package, you can type '.' ('dot' symbol) in the SQL server name (optional) box.
In the Authentication section, in the Type list, select the desired type of authentication. There are options:
- Windows Authentication;
- SQL Server Authentication.
If you select Windows Authentication, you do not need to enter any parameters. You can use this authentication type if you are installing Tariscope on the same server where SQL Server works.
For the second option, in the Username and Password boxes, type a username and its password that are used to update the database on the SQL Server.
We reccomend using SQL Server Authentication.
If your SQL Server is located on another server, you should use only SQL Server Authentication.
If you use SQL Server that was installed from the Tariscope installation package, you can use both Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication. In the last case, you should use the username of 'sa' and password of 'Tariscope123'.
We strongly recommend to change the password when you begin to work with Tariscope.
Click Check connection.
If you have correctly entered parameters, the Connection status string displays the value of "connected". Otherwise, ckeck the set parameters.
Click Done, the installation will continue.
If you selected the Tariscope Personal Area check box (Figure 1.5), the Tariscope Personal Area window appears as shown in Figure 1.11.
Figure 1.11
You should specify the connection parameters to SQL Server. To do this, click on the Change Tariscope connection options link. The Connect to database server window appears as shown in Figure 1.12.
Figure 1.12
Enter the desired parameters and click Connect.
We reccomend using SQL Server Authentication.
If you have correctly entered parameters, the installation will continue. Otherwise, you will get a message about error.
In the Tariscope Personal Area window (Figure 1.10), in the Application pool list, select a pool in which the Web site will be started. By default, DefaultAppPool is offered. If necessary, change this pool.
The Website name box displays the name of Web site. By default, this name is "ts". Change the name on another one if necessary. It is an internal name of the site.
An access to the site is determined by the IP port number that is specified in the Port number box. By default, the value is 8081. You can change it.
The path to the files of the site is specified in the Web site location box. If necessary, change it. The basic condition is that the path should be available to the user of IIS.
Click on the Install button. The installation process is started. Then you can close the window. The Tariscope Personal Area configuration will describe below.
The Tariscope Start window appears as shown in Figure 1.13.
Figure 1.13
Click on the Change connection options link. The SQL Server Connection window appears as shown in Figure 1.10. Enter the desired parameters and click Check connection.
If you have correctly entered parameters, the Connection status label displays the value of "connected". Otherwise, check the set parameters.
Click Done, the installation will continue.
In the Port box (Figure 1.13), you can specify IP port that will be used to access to the Tariscope Web Administrator application. The default value is 8085. You can change the value. If you want to open the application after its installation, leave the Open in web browser check box selected. Otherwise unselect it.
Click on the Start button. The message appears: "The application is installed on the http://[IP address or donain name or localhost]:[IP port]. Close the Tariscope Start?" Click Yes.
Installation will be completed.
